DentalRated is part of the Rated Network, a family of independent consumer-information sites operated by Aurum Transfers Ltd. DentalRated publishes plain-language dental cost guides for US patients -- the person holding a treatment estimate, weighing a procedure, or trying to understand a bill before they commit. We exist to help you arrive at your dentist's office informed, not to replace the professional care only a licensed dentist can provide.
Why we exist
Dental pricing is genuinely confusing, and the confusion is structural. The cash price differs from the insurance-negotiated rate, an in-network dentist is billed differently from an out-of-network one, and the estimate itself is built from procedure-code line items most patients never see explained. What a plan actually covers -- after deductibles, annual maximums, and the share for major work -- is rarely obvious, and cosmetic treatment is often not covered at all.
So patients arrive with concrete questions: Is this estimate reasonable? Why does the same crown cost more out of network? What will my plan really pay, and what falls to me? Are financing or dental membership plans worth it? We answer those calmly and in plain language, so you know what to ask before you decide.
How we research
- We ground figures in named, reputable sources -- industry bodies, government statistics, and established cost-data providers -- and we cite them in the guide itself.
- We use ranges, not false precision, because real prices vary by location, provider, and scope. We say so every time.
- We review and update guides as prices and best practices change.
